zefk asked: So, I made a photo post of a gif that I made. It worked perfectly at first and got a few reblogs. Now it's not working at all and just looks like a picture of the first frame. Is there a way to fix this? I searched around a bit and it seems like putting into the html of the caption of the photo post or posting it as a text post would work. Would that mess up the reblogs it got? This happened to another gif I posted, while a different one I reblogged is just fine. I hope this makes sense!
When someone reblogs a post, it gets reblogged exactly how it is at that point. At this point in time, Tumblr does not apply the changes you make to a post to the reblogs it gets.
As for the gifs, if it’s under 512kb (and 500 px in width, just to be safe) then it should work. If it worked before but suddenly isn’t, it’s probably an error on Tumblr’s part.
